Abandoned Theme parks

1.  I would really like to visit the prehistoric forest in Irish hills, Michigan. i think it would really freaking awesome to visit this park because rally like dinosaurs an just stuff that happened before humans roamed the earth. To me it would feel like im in a movie or something exploring an abandoned theme park with a camera. I would take picture to make it look like a documentary. Or i would take picture of that different types of dinosaurs and put them in categories.

2.

3.  Thermal Springs, Pamukkale, Turkey/ Fingals cave, Scotland/ Hvitserkur, North Iceland/ Plitvice Lakes, Croatia.

4.

5.  I think this would be fun to document because there is like rocky snow cap mountains and a lake. what really interests me about this place is that there can be a little bit of snow and then a full lake that is right next to each other. I would really want to take under water picture looking up at the snow cap mountains. I would also really think it would be cool too take picture from on top of a really tall tree. I would take picture during the morning and at night.

6. I would need a lot of equipment. I would need an under water camera, an regular really good camera flash and multiply camera lenses. This trip would be very very expensive because I would need all new equipment and plan tickets would be expensive because this is now like the other side of the world. I would stay at this place for about a two months every season to get a collection of photos, This place might be located in a national park so couldn't step in some parts of ground but i can always work around it.

Cover Types

1. Image Based: The most common magazine cover type. The subject is always looking at the camera and is usually smiling. This cover type is most often used with celebrity's. The image on the cover depends on the nature of the magazine. The nature of the image has to flow and make sense with the style publication.

2. Illustration Based: From the beginning to mids 30s illustrations were the only type of magazine covers. The new Yorker still has illustrated magazine cover to this day. Illustrations are used for something funny or something out of the  ordinary. The magazines that use illustration are usually independently distributed and do not relies on newsstands.

3. Type Based: Type based magazine covers are really rare. You see type magazine more then you see illustration magazines. There is a powerful message the way type presents way better then the photography can. The most famous and most recognizable type cover is
Esquire’s “Oh My God, We Hit a Little Girl!” by George Lois.

4. Concept Based: The concept magazine cover is a mix of all three of the magazine cover types. This cover type should be used when you are trying to get a strong message across. The concept cover type can be used in an funny way too. One really important thing about concept covers are that they have to almost instantly understandable. This cover is also rare. Business, news weekly, and independent magazines use this cover type.

What is the relationship between words and photos on magazine covers and why is this important? The relationship between words and photos is that they both have flow and go together. Whatever the words on the magazine say the photo has to relate to the words. This is important because you want the reader to be interested when they see the cover. You also really want the reader to understand what the magazine is about when the reader looks at the cover.

Website description: "Vogue’s annual Power issue features the actors, musicians, and personalities at the top of the cultural heap, and in 2013 no one held more social currency than Vogue’s March cover girl, BeyoncĂ©. For his spare but glamorous portrait, Patrick Demarchelier seems to capture all of the singer, business mogul, fashion icon, wife, and, mother’s multi-hyphenated talent and beauty in a single snap. It’s a picture as formidable, yet likeable, as “Queen Bey” herself."

My critique: I think that this magazine cover is very appealing. The cover is very simplistic and show the beauty of a glamour shot. I don't like the way they positioned her body. The position of her body looks very awkward and UN natural. Since this issue of vogue is called the "power issue" they made a very good choice of picking Beyonce. Since vogue used Beyonce for the cover all of her fans are of course gonna buy one of the magazines with her on it. Vogue obviously thought this one through. Vogue made this cover very simplistic but yet very glamours at the same time. By putting Beyonce on the power issue they are trying to portray Beyonce as a power women because of how much success she has had over the years.

Magazine tip

When making for magazine cover keep in mind less is more. Make your cover irresistible , make it appeal to the consumers. The cover should display the service you are providing for the customer. Make sure that there is something in it for them. Gather copies that your targeted consumer might be reading so you know what they like. Your magazine should stand out from the competition so people will take the time to stop and look at yours and not the competitions magazine.

American Soldier

A.  What is the most powerful image from the pictures printed in the Denver Post over the three weeks they published images from the year of coverage? Why?
The most powerful picture to me is called a light holiday touch. I think this is the powerful because in a very dark time they are trying to spread joy and happiness. People are different and cope in different ways. I think that if you decorate your living space like your at him eat can make you feel more safe.

B. How do the images work together to tell a story?
The photos all together tell and create a story by flowing together. Ian's face and emotions in the pictures really pull the tory together.

C. How do the captions enhance the photographs?

The captions help the photo by giving background information you might not already know. The caption gives background information so you can fully understand why that picture as taken at that specific time.

D. Summarize the story of Ian Fisher, based just on the captions.

He wanted to do something with his life so he got drafted into the military. His story also goes through him training to be a basic soldier.

E. For the photos in which Ian is the main subject of the photos, in what tense are the verbs usually written?

When Ian is a the main subject of the photo the caption is written in present tense.

F. Break down the captions:

The Captions are usually 3-4 sentences long. The first sentence is short and gives you some background information you need to know about the picture.

G. Why do you think it is possible to tell a complete story with just photos and captions?
Its possible to tell a complete story with photos and captions because if you word at the caption right you can understand more about the picture. you can also examine the picture help more understand the caption and the story.

H. If you can create a story with just photos and captions, why bother writing a story at all?

I think of the caption has a hook. The caption leads you in to wanting more about whats happening. the picture are put in certain places to make the story more interesting and makes the reader wanting to read more about the topic.

Portraits

Tips

 1. Alter Your Perspective

Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. While this is good common sense – completely changing the angle that you shoot from can give your portrait a real WOW factor.

2. Play With Backgrounds

The person in your portrait is the main point of interest – however sometimes when you place them into different contexts with different backgrounds you can dramatically alter the mood in a shot. Sometimes you want your background to be as minimalistic as possible.

3. Get Closer

The most common mistake made by photographers is that they are not physically close enough to their subjects. In some cases this means that the center of interest—the subject—is just a speck, too small to have any impact.
