academic shoot reflection and critique

Academic Shoot Reflection and Critique

1. You had to think really outside the box to get retain pictures to follow that certain rule.

2. When i was taking pictures i really focused on making are everything was in focus and that the camera wasn't lopsided.

3. I would do a lot of things differently like making sure that everything in the picture makes sense and in the picture everything looks like they go together. i would also would like to be creative with my shots.

4. I would defitnly keep making sure my photos are always in focus and that the camera is not lopsided.

5. The easiest rule will be rule of thirds cause all you have to do is get different angles to make the subject look like they are following the rule of thirds.

6. I think framing would be the hardest to capture because you have to find something that goes with the photo and also frames your subject.

7. I think I'm really not clear on framing it just kinda hard to use the surrounding to frame your subject.

shutter speed

Shutter speed

1. bulldogs and hotdogs

a.) medium shutter speed
b.) medium shutter speed
c.) fast shutter speed to freeze the image
d.) fast shutter speed
e.) slow shutter speed to show motion
f.) fast shutter speed

a.) slow shutter speed
b.) slow shutter speed to get more light in the image
c.) fast shutter speed
d.) fast if the scene is well lit
e.) slow shutter speed
f.) medium or fast

2.  Aperture priority, Shutter priority, Manual.
Aperture priority is when you set your aperture to a certain setting and that automatically sets the shutter speed. Shutter priority is when you set the shutter speed and it automatically sets the aperture. manual mode is when you set both shutter and aperture manually.

iOS

IOS

1. the advantages of using a higher IOS is that it it will increase the sensitive of your camera and it takes less time to capture a photo.

2. the author suggested using lower IOS setting because it will not mess up the photo quality. When theirs plenty of light you should use a low IOS setting too.

3. Some authors suggestions when using a high IOS is when theirs not enough light for the camera to capture the image. The author also said that you want to increase the IOS for very fast shots for like sports.

Aperture

Aperture

f16

f2.8

1.  you should relate pupil to aperture.
2. the smaller aperture the bigger the hole is the bigger and the aperture the small the hole is.
3. the smaller the aperture like (f2) will focus on the foreground while the bigger the aperture (f16) will bring the foreground and background into the the picture.

6 Photos rules

Rule of thirds

1.)  I used the rule of thirds. I think i did follow the rule by thirds because the guy is off the left and not in the center.
2.) my subject is the guy sitting down drawing.
3.) I think it would be clear to people looking at my photo for them to know what the subject is because the background is very simple so they wont get confused when looking for the subject of the photo.
4.) It make my subject more vibrant and stand out i think i should have like gone from a different angle besides straight on.

Framing
1.) I used framing. i definitely followed the rule because the red and black pole is framing the girl drawing.
2.) My subject is the girl in between the poles.
3.) my subject is very clear because the girl that is drawing is being framed and the attention is being drawn in towards her.
4.) i would liked for her to be more following the rule of thirds but I didn't want her to make her move since she was drawling

Balance
1.) I used balance and kinda framing. I used balance because there are two girls that on both sides of the picture that are making it equal.
2.) My subject id the two girls sitting on the ground.
3.) I think my subject is very clear because my background is very simple and my subjects are in the foreground.
4.) To emphasis my subjects i could have gotten closer that the first thing your eyes are drawn to.

Simplicity
1.) My rule i used for this picture is simplicity. i followed this rule by not having a lot going on just locker and a clock.
2.)  My subject is the green lockers.
3.) I'm honestly not quite sure if my subject is clear to people but its clear to me because I knew what I wanted to do when i took this photo.
4.) I think that my subject would stand out if the background was a different color but I can't change that so I think I wouldn't change anything about my picture.

Mergers
1.) I used mergers which is breaking the rule avoiding mergers. so I didn't follow my rule.
2.) My subject is my friend jade which id the girl that is in my picture.
3.) My subject is clear to other people because it just jade and a beige pole.
4.) I would have shown that there is a pole that her head is merging with more because in this picture it just looks like a beige blob.

Leading lines
1.)  I used leading lines. I followed leading lines by having the end of the desk lead to the girls arm which leads you to her hand.
2.) My subject is the girl writing at her desk.
3.) my subject is very clear because there are no other people in the picture besides her.
4.) I wouldn't change anything about this picture because the subject is in focus and the background is blurred out.

Academic pre shoot questions

1. I could take picture like thrones i was looking at today at school events like prom, homecoming, sporting events and just the regular school day.

2.  I would like to visit Ms.Hartford's Art room, Mr. Logan's art studio or like some science classes.

3.  Stuff i would do to get really goo photos that i looked at like today i will look at stuff in different ways and experiment with different tricks and styles of photography.

2012 jostens photo contest

Favorite photos from 2012 jostens photo contest.

My favorite photos looking through the 2012 jostens contest winers were the picture that have a lot of action in them. one of my favorite photos is a girl dressed for prom. Its after she won prom queen (I think) and the background is really blurring but she is focus. This were my favorite picture from the 2012 jostens photo contest.

1. I picked this photo because i really liked how the background was blurry but the main subject was in focus.

2. Some photos rules are avoiding mergers, and simplicity.

Filling the Frame

Filling the Frame.

I think picture shows filling the frame the best. The picture is filling the frame by the students all in a circle. The picture is filled with all the students in the circle around the table.

Best Action and Emotion

The Best Action and Emotion

I think that this picture shows the best action and emotion. This picture shows the most action and emotion because the girls are doing a science experiment and their faces are surprised by the experiment explosion.

The Story

The Story

I think this picture represents the best story. I think the story this picture tells is that teens volenteered to help feed the homeless. the teens passed out old to the homeless.

post photo shoot reflection

Post Shoot Reflection

1.      I didn't really know what position is best for taking certain types of pictures.

2.      The technical aspect I thought about the most making sure the picture was in focus before I took the photo. I was trying to take a picture of  flowers up close and it was very hard to focus.

3.      If I were to do this shoot assignment again I would make sure to use of the like balance, rule of thirds and like just the basic to take a really good picture.

4.     The things I would keep the same is the amount of pictures I took so i a variety inside of bring stuck with ones I didn't like.

5.      Go back and edit your first prompt shoot.

6.      I would be interested in shooting the topics again because now I know more things about the basic I feel like I would be able to take / create better pictures.

9/11 pt 6

AVOIDING MERGERS

so in this photo there are multiply mergers. one merger is the main subject off to the left and the lady head behind him. the lady head mergers into they guys backpack. this can rule can help thins not to look like big blobs or just not to crowded.

9/11 pt 5

FRAMING

This picture is a really good representation of framing. The hole in the building frames the firefighter going up the ladder.  This effect is really good for just focusing on one specific thing in a photo and not letting other things in the photo over power the thing you want to focus on.

9/11 pt 4

BALANCE

this picture is balanced because on the left side there is two people hugging and then on the right there is another two people hugging. this effect is very useful because sometimes if there id a lot of people on one side of the picture it just looks very weird and non potential.

9/11 pt 3

SIMPLICITY

I choose this picture as simplicity because all there really is in the picture is smoke, buildings and the sky. i felt like this was still simple because you could see the sky which meant to me that there was really not a lot going on. this effect can be very useful because it can be very overwhelming when looking at a picture with so much stuff going on because you don't know what to look at first.

9/11 pt 2

LINES

lines is a line leading up to the subject. the lines on the building are leading up to the guy that has jumped off the building. this effect can lead your eye to anything to anything that is in  the picture with a leading line.

9/11 pt1

RULE OF THRIDS

I choose this picture as rule of thirds because the american flag is off to the right and its not just in the center. the effect of the rule of thirds is that you are more drawn to the main object but if it was in the center you eyes would wonder around.

black and white photographers

William Sherman

Cindy Sherman

Yousuf Karsh

camera history

The camera.

1. the " camera obscura" effect this was the first camera. the hole acted as a camera lens and projected the light into the dark chamber.

2. the invention that helped get better photos was the high quality glass lenses.

3. Niepce invented film to help create the first successful photograph.

4. the modern camera still has film but more advanced and they still use lenses but more advanced.

5.  cameras use electric sensor called a CCD. the images are saved on reusable memory devices.

Camera mode

6. with auto mode you don't control anything but with program you can control the flash and other camera settings.

7. the portrait mode is used for blurring out the background and the camera will use the fastest lens settings.

8.  The Sports mode is used to capture something moving really fast. the camera uses the fast camera mode.

The Half Press

9. you should use the half pre button to make sure your picture in focus.

Controlling flash

10. the symbol means to disable the flash so when you take the picture the flash doesn't go off.  you should us this mode if you want a more dramatic effect with natural light.

11. This symbol means that the flash will turn on if the camera thinks the picture might need more light.

Exposure

12. the picture will be washed out if your picture has to much light. and if your picture diesnt have enough light it wile really dark.

13. if your picture doesn't have enough light it wile really dark.

The Universal Stop

14. Stop in photography means the change in the light.

15.   the new planet would be one stop brighter.

16. the new planet would be four sops brighter.

Shutters and aperture.

17.  A longer shutter allows more light in.

18. a Shorter shutter allows less light in

19. the aperture controls the opening and close of the lens.

20. to allow more light in you need to have a larger opening.
